Each week The (Quantum) Leap summarises a key aspect of success into what you need to Think, Feel and Do to create a personal shift.

 

THINK

In nearly every aspect of our lives we fall into personality groups – and the way we handle money is no different. We need to identify our money ‘personality’ so that we can pinpoint (and eliminate) our financial blind spots.

Chances are much of your financial behaviour is driven by tendencies that you don’t even know you have. But those tendencies can cost you money and sabotage your long-term financial goals.

The antidote is to increase your awareness of your habits with money.

First thing in the morning, create some quiet space to contemplate and finish the following sentences:

Living consciously with money to me means…

Repeat five more times, writing down your answers. Go on to the following sentences, doing six endings as quickly as possible:

If I bring 5% more awareness to my activities with money today…
If I pay 5% more awareness to my relationship with money today…


FEEL

Explore your feelings about money using the same exercise as above. Finish each sentence six times, as quickly as you can:

If I pay more attention to how I feel about money today…

When I reflect on how I would feel if I lived more consciously with money…


DO

At the end of the same day, finish each of the following sentences six to ten times:

When I reflect on how I would feel if I lived more consciously with money…

When I reflect on what happened as a result of bringing 5% more awareness to my activities with money…

When I reflect on what happened as a result of bringing 5% more awareness to my relationship with money…
